ORGANIC RUBBER
The organic rubber used to manufacture Halsa Natural Sleep mattresses comes from Sri Lanka. Its flexible nature and durability make the premium choice for a mattress. Its ability to contour to your body provides long-term support and pressure relief.
Organic rubber is a renewable resource. The highest quality rubber comes from milk (sap) tapped from the Hevea Brasiliensis tree, grown on Sri Lankan plantations. The supplier specializes in fine quality rubber for mattress use. An extremely durable, elastic material it is characterized by its ability to retain its shape and firmness for long periods of time.
The Hevea milk is processed and molded into sheets near the plantation, within hours of the morning harvest. This ensures there is no rubber destabilization and eliminates the need for chemical stabilizers. It ensures the rubber cores are pure as they can be. They are then shipped to Canada.
BENEFITS:
- Durable and elastic
- Retains shape and firmness
- Excellent heat and moisture regulation
- Resists dust mites naturally
- Relieves pressure
ORGANIC WOOL
The wool used in Sleeptek products comes from Corriedale sheep. Their wool is resilient, dense and fluffy, with a comfortable feel that lasts for years.
Organic wool comes from sheep that graze in pastures that have not been treated with pesticides or herbicides. The wool is washed in hot water and organic soap. This process allows the wool fiber to retain two to four percent of its lanolin oil, which is a natural dust-mite repellant.
BENEFITS:
- Moisture absorbent
- Superior temperature regulation
- Breathable
- Naturally fire retardant properties allow products to meet both US and Canadian flammability / combustion requirements without the addition of man-made fire retardants

ORGANIC COTTON
Organic cotton is cultivated and hand-picked using traditional methods. It is grown organically without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides or defoliants. Synthetic chemicals are not used to strip cotton leaves before harvesting or during the manufacturing process. Picking by hand helps ensure the collection of the cleanest, purest, most resilient cotton fibre available.
Conventionally grown cotton methods use a large amount of pesticides to grow the crop. These pesticides do cumulative damage to water tables, rivers and lakes.
BENEFITS:
- Free of toxic chemicals
- Breathable
- Comfortable
- Soft
RENEWABLE CANADIAN WOOD
The Canadian Wood used in Sleeptek Foundations and Halsa Bed Frames is raw, untreated, and responsibly harvested. No synthetic glues, dyes or finishing sprays are used at any stage of production.
BENEFITS:
- Quality construction for durability
- Free from VOC emissions
- Sustainably harvested

Certifications
- Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) – In organic and sustainable latex / rubber production, processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading and transportation, GOLS is the new global standard. More than simply organic, GOLS focuses on safety and welfare, human health, and environmental concerns involved with the manufacturing of latex / rubber. Latex / rubber certified to GOLS standards is grown and processed organically.
- Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) – Recognized as one of the leading processing standards for textiles made from organic materials. GOTS requires that manufacturers meet specific, rigorous environmental and social criteria along the entire supply chain.
- Eco Institut – An independent institute which provides testing for emissions and pollutants in a wide number of products. Mattress manufacturers seek the Eco Institut label to demonstrate their products limited off-gassing and volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.
