Handmade of select maple, the Kootenay hardwood bed is built to last for generations and is a great alternative to box springs and foundations. The head and footboards are made with strong mortise and tenon joints. Along with a laminated maple center beam, slat support rails dado jointed and fastened to the bed side rails provide support to the Baltic birch slat system.
The untreated laminated Baltic birch slats are strong, dimensionally stable and will support heavy mattresses. They provide excellent airflow and breathability for a healthy environment. They can be adjusted vertically by 2 inches to adjust mattress height to your preference.

Zero VOC, semi-transparent stains are used to provide choices of colour. The lightest of the stains is called ‘Natural’ and will maintain the blond maple character but accentuate the wood grain. Black walnut and birch woods may be available for an extra charge depending on market quality and supply, call for details.
The bed can be assembled by two persons in about 10 minutes, with no tools. To adjust the slat supports to raise or lower the mattress height, a number 2 Robertson screwdriver is required.
Each bed order is handmade in small batches and requires 6 to 8 weeks to make. If we have stock in our inventory of the size and colour you choose, the bed can be picked up at Halsa Natural Sleep or shipped to your home.
